The January Images Subscription License
When you subscribe to January Images, every image you download is covered by a single, straightforward editorial license. You don't need to check licensing terms image by image. You don't need to negotiate rights. You don't need to track usage. If you're a subscriber, you're licensed.
Permitted Uses
Subscribers may use downloaded images for:
Editorial websites
News sites, entertainment publications, blogs, and digital media
Entertainment news
Articles, features, and coverage of entertainment events and celebrities
Red-carpet coverage
Event coverage, arrivals, and fashion reporting
Social media
Organic posts on behalf of editorial and PR clients
Press & publicity
Press releases, media kits, and publicity materials
Digital publications
Online magazines, newsletters, and digital editions
Talent profiles
Artist bios, talent pages, and representation materials
Event coverage
Recap articles, event galleries, and coverage summaries
Newsletters
Email newsletters and subscriber communications
Excluded Uses
The subscription license does not cover:
Advertising
Paid advertising, sponsored content, or promotional campaigns
Merchandise
Physical or digital products featuring the image
Product packaging
Any product packaging or point-of-sale materials
Political advertising
Any political campaign or advocacy advertising
Resale or sublicensing
Selling or licensing images to third parties
Creating another stock library
Incorporating images into a competing image library
AI training
Using images to train, fine-tune, or test AI models
Implied celebrity endorsement
Any use that implies a celebrity endorses a product or service

Licensing FAQ
Does the license cover all images in the archive?
Yes. Every image available for download through a January Images subscription is covered by the subscription editorial license. There are no images that require separate licensing for editorial use.
Can I use images on a client's social media?
Yes, for organic editorial and PR social media posts on behalf of clients. Paid social advertising requires a commercial license.
What happens to images I've downloaded if I cancel my subscription?
Images downloaded during an active subscription retain their license for the uses they were downloaded for. You may not download new images after cancellation.
Can multiple people at my agency use the same downloaded image?
Yes. Under Team and Agency plans, all seats on the account share the same license. Images downloaded by any user on the account are licensed for use by the entire organization.
How is this different from Getty or Shutterstock?
Traditional stock libraries charge per image or per use, with complex licensing tiers. January Images is a single subscription that covers all editorial uses — no per-image fees, no usage tracking, no license negotiations.
